We report the first case of a pulmonary infection with Mycobacterium sherrisii in a patient with advanced human immunodeficiency virus infection. Mycobacterium sherrisii is a newly described nontuberculous mycobacterium related to Mycobacterium simiae. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene was used for species identification.
